Hey! I’m Emery. I want to help other young people feel confident entering the workforce.
Most career advice is outdated and geared towards those 30 and up. But Gen Z is graduating and working whether we like it or not. And I hated having to figure out things for myself when I started working my first corporate job.
I found myself searching Reddit threads to learn what to wear while traveling for work, how to not look like an idiot at the office holiday party, and how to actually schedule a meeting in Outlook…general first-job things.
Except for some reason older people hate us and think we’re entitled (???) so now we have to prove that we are normal people who get the pleasure of living through multiple once-in-a-lifetime economic, geopolitical and environmental events. And that we just happen to like equal rights and demand a non-soul-crushing work/life balance. Extreme, right?
So that’s what I’m here to do – provide answers to things that are essentially un-Googleable. And for things that actual adults can’t answer either. Because I resent that when I searched for work-appropriate fits they gave me a knee-length hi-lo cardigan and heels. ACTUAL HEELS. Without a block or a wedge. Horrifying.
So if you were born after like, 2000, I might be able to help you out. Let me know if you have a specific question that I can write about.
